JOWAI: The Border Peace Committee in Jaintia Hills met on Friday at Khanduli and resolved to meet the chief ministers of Meghalaya and Assam to submit a memorandum in connection with the unrest and law and order problems in the disputed Block I and Block II areas along the inter-state border between the two neighbouring states. The Committee will also place a demand that both the governments should not interfere in any development activities in the disputed areas, particularly road construction works.

“If the governments continue with their interference, we will take up the development works on our own,” the committee resolved.

The committee, which was constituted two months ago, also decided to equip all its members with ID cards.
