Truck of city gas agency seized . Connection portability system started
SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills administration has warned of action against gas agencies, which fail to deliver LPG cylinders at the door steps of consumers.
The warning follows several complaints from consumers on the failure of gas agencies operating in the district to comply with the recent direction of the government to implement the home delivery system.
Informing that the district administration has already started the home delivery system from June 1 and system of point delivery has been discontinued, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal on Saturday said several complaints have been received by the administration regarding the non-delivery of cylinders at the door steps of consumers.
Taking cognizance of such complaints, a team of the district administration led by magistrate Ronnie Wahlang on Saturday seized a delivery truck belonging to M/s Longkmie Gas Agency which was distributing cylinders from the roadside at Laban Last Stop.
According to Goyal, more such crack down will take place in future.
He further informed that it is made amply clear that the home delivery charges decided by the administration is Rs 25 per cylinder over and above the reserve sale price, which is Rs 421 as of now and for home delivery, the charge would be Rs 446.) LPG connection portability: The district administration, meanwhile, has launched the LPG connection portability, which is similar to the mobile numbers portability.
With this system, consumers who are not happy with the services of their present agency can shift to another agency of their choice without changing the connection number.
The Government has also launched a portability scheme for cooking gas customers across the country on January 22.
This measure will bring great relief to those LPG consumers who are unhappy with the services of their current distributor or for those who want to move to an LPG distributor closer to their homes.
