Forest staff attacked

SHILLONG: The forest staff posted in North Garo Hills were injured and their vehicle damaged after stones were pelted at them by as many as 30 miscreants who were engaged in tree felling in the district, a delayed report said.

According to police, a complaint was lodged at Mendipathar police station that on July 2 at around 3.30 am, around thirty unidentified miscreants were felling teak trees inside the Reserve Forest at 7th Mile Area under Chima Bangsi in North Garo Hills. The miscreants also pelted stones at the forest staff causing injuries and damage to a departmental Jeep.
