Coal owners, miners submit memo to PM

SHILLONG: The State co-ordination Committee of Coal Owners, Miners & Dealers Forum led by its Chairman, S L Khyriem and others submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi through the Prime Minister Office recently.

The memorandum submitted was on the grievances of the people of the State, which has arises out of the blanket ban of coal mining by the National Green Tribunal.

The Committee in the memorandum sought the intervention for redressal by the Prime Minister

It may be mentioned that NGT on April 17 had passed an interim order banning all coal mining in the State of Meghalaya and also transportation of the extracted coal

The Forum during the visit to the National capital also met all the 3 MP’s Vincent H Pala, Purno Sangma and Wansuk Syiem to seek their involvement for evolving solution to the coal ban impasse.
