Mohanlalganj (UP): Age may have caught up with the former US President Bill Clinton but his mesmerizing presence can still charm women.

In his brief interaction with the women self help groups at Jabrauli village here during his brief about two hours stay, he spoke about the initiative taken by the Clinton Foundation of ‘No Ceiling’ which focused on empowering women wherein they should decide what they wanted and not follow what anyone tells them.

The Women in turn responded by telling the former President that they would be happy to see his wife Hillary Clinton become the next President of the US which brought a smile on his face.

Lending an ear to the women who spoke about the achievements of the Women Self Groups, the former President said, “I believe that the idea of Self Help Groups is absolutely beautiful. The Clinton Foundation has launched the concept of ‘No Ceiling’ which means that women whether they are inside or outside their house should be empowered.”

“It is necessary to do what you want and no one should tell you what to do. This is very important because this is your thought. I am happy to learn that you have learnt so many things and exciting to hear what you had to say. I am thankful that you are present here today and must say that your children look beautiful,” said Clinton in his interaction.

Excited by the presence of the former President and his inspiring words the women representative of the group immediately responded with the same warmth: Hum Ko aapke na chaat (No Ceiling) hone ki baat acchi lagi aur hum chahte hain ki Hillary Clinton America ki Rashtrapati Bane.

The women then broke into a song in his honour.

The sleepy hamlet of Jabrauli woke to a buzz of a high profile activity yesterday as former President Clinton came to witness the activities carried out by his Foundation at the Purv Madhyamik Vidyalya at Jabaruali in the programme for diarrehea management. Villagers lined up the serpentine lane that led to the school waiting eagerly to wave to the former President whom they pronounced as “Kill Blinton”.

The eager talks before his arrival centered on how Clinton’s visit had suddenly galvanized the administration to waive its magic wand and get the area spanking clean. Undeterred by the sultry weather, the women, children and the men waited patiently to get a glimpse of the man who has been the head of one of the most powerful country of the world.

As he stepped out of his Innova he was greeted with several hands waving simultaneously. Clinton wearing a casual military green T-shirt and trousers looked handsome despite his crop of white hair. He had a small interaction with the students and the mothers where a demonstration of the making of the ORS solution was carried out.

The Women Self Groups from Jabrauli and other parts of Mohanlalganj shared their experiences of becoming a self help group and empowering other women and solving their small problems related to agriculture and finance issues.

Asma Bano, who was present at the programme said that she was greatly impressed by the presence of the former President, “He was so handsome and his presence was itself so inspiring” said Asma. (UNI)
