SHILLONG: The Inter College Football Tournament, organised by the Sports Department of North Eastern Hill University, began on Friday at the JN Sports Complex, Polo.

A total of 14 colleges are participating in the tournament.

Prof P Shukla, NEHU vice-chancellor, was the chief guest and declared the tournament open.

In the first match Synod College, Shillong, defeated St Edmund’s College, Shillong by one goal.

Union Christian College, Umiam, then defeated Mendipathar College in the second fixture 4-0.

The third game of the day saw Kiang Nangbah Govt College, Jowai, beat Shillong Commerce College 3-1.
