More cases of NGT ban violations

SHILLONG: More cases of violation of NGT ban on transportation of coal were reported from various parts of the State.

According to police, on July 22 at around 3 am, while conducting vehicle checking at GS Road near the main Dam of Umiam Reservoir, Mawlai Police detained one truck (ML-05F-6258) driven by one Bastar Nongsiej for carrying coal in violation of NGT ban on transportation of coal.

Earlier on July 19 at about 1.30 am, during vehicle checking at Lumshnong in East Jaintia Hills , Police signaled one coal laden truck (AS-01CC-2747) driven by Pynhunlang Ksoo, to stop. However, the driver refused and sped away. Police chased the truck and on reaching at Pathar Quarry, NH-44,East Jaintia Hills, the truck capsized.
