NONGSTOIN: The Synjuk Seng Bhalang (SSB), West Khasi Hills District, consisting of several NGOs, has decided to organise a public meeting in protest at the National Green Tribunal’s ban on coal mining and transportation of coal in Meghalaya.

“We have decided to organise a public meeting at Nongstoin on July 29 at 11:00am,” Synjuk chairman, TS Shangrit, informed.

Shangrit also said that the public meeting was called in order to make people aware of the NGT ban on coal mining in addition to what steps they should take in order to appeal to the NGT to reconsider the ban on coal mining as it has affected the life of the people in West Khasi Hills and the state as a whole.

The Synjuk urged all political leaders, coal traders, labourers and the people of WKH to come and attend the meeting in order to appeal for the ban to be lifted.
