Five KPLT militants arrested in Assam

DIPHU(ASSAM) : Five militants, including the general secretary of the Karbi Peoples Liberation Army (KPLT), were arrested in a joint operation carried out by Dokmoka PS of Karbi Anglong dist. with 8th Regiment of the Army on the night of July 23, 5 KPLT cadres from Kharping Kro village under Dokmoka PS.

The joint police and Army team also seized several arms and ammunitions from the cadres. Three of the KPLT militants were later identified as- Ranam Lijung, General Secretary KPLT; Angplop Timung; and Khorsing Teron.

The team also recovered various arms and ammunitions including one 7.62 mm one AK 56 Rifle with 3 magazines, one 303 rifle, three Chinese Grenades, oand cash amounting to Rs 20,000.00 from the extremists.

Meanwhile, One Thong Teron of Howraghat PS area who was kidnapped by KPLT on July 21 for ransom was rescued by I/C Uttar Borbil OP with staff under Howraghat PS on July 22.

The accused were later identified by the police and effort is still on to apprehend other members of the militant group.
