FIR against Cinema TV

SHILLONG: One Badamon Nongsiej (20) of Rangmaw village in South West Khasi Hills has lodged a complaint at Mawkyrwat PS, that on July 17, she participated in a live contest on Cinema TV channel following which she received a call from one Mukesh Kumar of Bihar, asking her to deposit Rs 10,000 in his SBI account to claim the prize money (Rs 12 lakh) that she had won.

However, the complainant did not receive any money. Later, Mukesh Kumar called her again and asked her to deposit 2.5 pc of the prize money in his SBI account.

In a similar incident, last week another woman had lodged a complaint at Lumdiengjri PS that on July 12 at around 8am, she had participated in a celebrity contest on Cinema TV.

On July 13, she received a call where the caller identifying himself as one Dharmendra Kumar informed her that she had won a Tata Motor vehicle worth Rs. 12,60,000 with a instruction to deposit Rs 49,400 to claim the prize.
