Nagaland Lottery firm payment default leads to revenue loss
Kohima: The Congress in Nagaland has alleged that the State Lotteries Department has suffered revenue loss after a lottery firm M/s Cairs defaulted on payment. The failure of the Lotteries Department, which is a major revenue generator for the Nagaland government, to realize Rs 77 crore due had led to a revenue deficit for the state government, Congress legislature Party leader Tokheho Yepthomi told the Assembly on Thursday. He said that the state government had taken the matter to the court while the firm filed a counter affidavit in which it denied that it owed the amount to the state government. The CLP Leader also alleged that the State Lotteries Department had floated a tender and the firm which offered Rs 35,000 per draw was rejected while the firm with the lowest offer of Rs 15,000 per draw was granted the tender, thereby resulting in a huge loss of revenue for the state.
