FINER coducts awareness campaign on quality management

Guwahati: Federation of Industry & Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER), in association with MSME-DI, Guwahati and Quality Council of India, New Delhi on Friday organized a one day awareness campaign on Quality Management Standard & Quality Technology Tools to enhance the productivity and competitiveness as well as capacity building of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) and their collectives in the Northeastern region at Hotel Gateway Grandeur, Guwahati.
The main objective of the seminar was be to support the sustainability and growth of MSEs by addressing common issues faced by small businesses such as improvement of technology, skills and quality, to build capacity of MSEs for common supportive action through formation of self help groups, consortia, upgrading of associations and infrastructural facilities in the new/existing industrial areas/ clusters of MSEs, to set up common facility centres (for testing, training centre, raw material depot, effluent treatment, complementing production processes, etc).
The seminar began with the welcoming of the dignitaries by Indrani Chaudhury, Deputy Director General, FINER, followed by the felicitation of the guest and dignitaries.
The guest of honor for the seminar was Prafulla K Saikia, Additional Director, DIC, Assam.
R S Joshi, Chairman, FINER, welcomed the gathering followed by a briefing on the theme of the seminar by Shirish Asthana, Dy. Director(IC), MSME-DI, Guwahati.
Amit Kr Jain, VC, FINER spoke about the importance of organizing such seminar to enhance the productivity and competitiveness as well as capacity building of MSME Units in the NE region.
The seminar was attended by different entrepreneurs from the NE region and members of various NGO and Self help groups.
The seminar was divided into two sessions –the first included the inaugural speech by the guest of honour, Prafulla Kr Saikia while, the second involved the technical session conducted by Ranjan Banerjee, faculty, Quality Council of India, New Delhi.
An interactive session was also conducted between the distinguished guests and the entrepreneurs.
The seminar ended with a vote of thanks for Pabitra Buragohain, VC & MSME Committee.
