SHILLONG: The  Achik National Liberation Army (ANLA) has exposed the alleged  double standard of Chief Minister Minister Mukul Sangma  by saying that during an interview for the Bangladesh-based news paper Daily Star, the Chief Minister had not mentioned about his parent’s Garo connections.
In a statement issued to the media on Saturday, ANLA  self styled chairman Mikkim Achik said that  in the interview given to Quazi Sajjad Ali Zahir for the daily star on February 25,2012, the Chief Minister had said,”  My mother’s name is Rawshanara Begum, She belonged to a Muslim family in the bordering village of Bongaon in Assam. My father Binoy Bhushan Modok and my mother were students in Cotton College of Guwahati”.
According to  ANLA chairman, the Chief Minister says to Bangladesh  readers that his father is  Binoy Bhushan Modok and in Meghalaya , his father’s name is Binoy Bhushan Marak.
“If the Chief Minister takes his father’s title, he should be Modak or Marak and if he takes the mother’s title , it should be  different,”  the ANLA leader said, wondering as to how Mukul Sangma got the Sangma title.
