SHILLONG: The State Government is still awaiting the official communiqué from the Centre on allotment of MBBS seats reserved for the State under the Central Pool.

Informing this here on Wednesday, Health and Family Welfare department secretary KW Marbaniang said that once the official letter is received, there would not be any delay in releasing the list of the students who have been selected for MBBS courses in different medical institutes of the country.

While replying to a query, Marbaniang said that a request had been made to the Centre to speed up the process and added “We have already sent two reminders to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in this connection”.

“As per the Medical Council of India (MCI) directive, the last date for taking of admission is September 31,” Marbaniang said adding that even last year the list was published in August.

Meanwhile, Marbaniang informed that the department has already shortlisted the candidates and the same was done after the State Entrance test.
