SHILLONG: Lt. Gen. A Chakravarty, DG, NCC, on Wednesday reviewed the ongoing NCC activities in the North Eastern Region at the office of Additional Director General, NCC Directorate, NER, Shillong.
He also visited the NCC Group Headquarter, Shillong, where he interacted with the officers, JCOs and NCOs emphasizing on quality of institutional and camp training and safety of cadets.
The DG exhorted the staff to instill and develop in the cadets core values of nationalism, good character, discipline, secular outlook, the spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service.
“This will facilitate creating a pool of organized, trained and motivated youth with leadership qualities for all walks of life,” he said.
Later in the day, the DG called on Governor K.K. Paul and apprised him of the role, charter, aim of NCC activities and the various initiatives taken in this regard with special reference to the State of Meghalaya.
Subsequently, in a meeting with Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, the DG expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for the keen interest shown by him towards furthering the achievement of the aims of the organization.
He apprised him of the plan for extending the NCC activities in the districts of Garo and Jaintia Hills.
“Raising of new units and setting up of NCC Academy will greatly benefit the students of the region,” the DG said.
The Chief Minister in return promised all possible support in furtherance of NCC activities in the State.
