Accidents across Meghalaya

Two occupants of a Maruti 800 (MLO4 – 7685) travelling towards Jowai, sustained injuries when the vehicle hit an electric post on the side of the road at Umphyrnai under Mawryngkneng Block, East Khasi Hills District on August 7 at 2:15 pm when the Maruti car was trying to avoid a head-on collision with a TATA Sumo coming from the opposite direction. Sily Rymbai (70, F) and H. Rymbai (59, M) were shifted to NEIGRIHMS.

A jeep (AS01 – 2381) which was heading towards Marngar collided with a motorbike (ML10A – 3685) coming from the opposite direction, at Lad Marngar on the Umden Road under Umling Block, Ri Bhoi District. The motorist and the pillion rider sustained injuries during the incident which occurred on August 7 at 11:40 pm. S. Laloo (27, M) and Bok Khamdait (42, M) were shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital.

A Maruti 800 which was proceeding towards Shillong, collided with a truck parked on the side of the road at 13th Mile, Byrnihat under Umling Block, Ri Bhoi District on August 7 at around 2:30 pm. R. Tlang (73, M) was shifted to Byrnihat PHC.

A Maruti Alto (ML05D – 1179) proceeding towards Shillong from Nongstoin collided with a truck parked on the side of the road at Manai under Mairang Block, West Khasi Hills on August 6 at around 7 pm. The driver along with a co-passenger of the Maruti Alto sustained injuries during the collision and were shifted to Tirot Singh Memorial Hospital, Mairang.

In all the above cases the 108 Emergency Service Ambulance based in different parts of the State helped in shifting the injured persons to the nearest medical centre.
