TURA: An FIR has been filed against a brother duo in connection with a fake marriage case in which a young girl from Chaipani Dalu in West Garo Hills was allegedly duped.
According to the first FIR filed by the victim on July 30 with the Officer In charge of Dalu Police Station the alleged culprit, one Biswajit Saha, son of Pachu Saha of Chaipani, Dalu, had taken her to Singgimari in the second week of May on the pretext of legally marrying her. The victim alleged that a fake marriage was conducted where the culprit entered his name as Pintu Saha, son of Rotan Saha, with the sole intention to consummate the so called marriage.
Later, having accomplished his evil designs the victim was allegedly made to sign in a blank sheet of paper which was later used as a divorced agreement claimed to have been prepared by Biswajit Saha and his accomplices, all hailing from Dalu, Chaipani, two of whom have been named as Robi Saha and Purnima Paul.
Following the incident the victim had returned to her parents’ house to start over with her life after which her marriage was also amicably settled to one, Sanjoy Rajbangsi, scheduled to be solemnized on July 28. Marriage proceedings of the two were on as scheduled when the accused arrived at the scene and assaulted the victim.
The victim also alleged that Biswajit had waylaid her the next day and forcibly broken her ceremonial bangles, also threatening to get her legal husband killed by hired professionals.
The victim and her parents at the behest of the accused’s elder brother, Khogen Saha, were allegedly warned of dire consequences by five persons on July 30 if the matter was reported to the police.
While two FIRs were already filed earlier at Dalu Police Station no action has been taken so far with regard to the FIRs.
The victim and her family have now filed another FIR with the Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills, against all the accused and are awaiting action.
