Girl’s body recovered from river in Rilbong

SHILLONG: Within a fortnight of the recovery of the body of Shoma Khongwir (24) from a river at Demseiniong, police on Sunday recovered the body of a girl found floating on the river at Burn Side, Rilbong.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police M Kharkrang said the girl was around 12 years old.

The body was taken to Shillong Civil Hospital where the post mortem would be conducted on Monday.

Police are trying to locate the parents or guardians of the girl. According to police, the girl was yet to be identified and the reason behind the death was also not ascertained yet, pending post mortem.

Meanwhile, police are yet to get the post mortem report related to the recovery of Khongwir’s body on July 28 from Demseiniong.
