SHILLONG: Tura MP and NPP president Purno Sangma fears that the economy of the State would collapse in a few weeks time.

Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, Sangma said there will be severe financial crisis in Meghalaya in a few weeks time due to the NGT ban on rat hole mining.

According to the NPP chief, the State Government is losing out on revenue worth crores which is bound to cripple the State’s economy.

He stated that another reason that would lead to economic breakdown is the indefinite strike by banks.

The SBI has threatened to go on an indefinite strike in protest against the abduction of its official Subodh Kumar Mishra.
