SHILLONG: In a sequel to ‘My Earth My Duty’, the Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday organised a large-scale plantation drive all over the country wherever BSF is deployed, including in Meghalaya.
In the city, a plantation programme was organized by BSF Meghalaya Frontier which was attended by State Health & Family Welfare Minister A.L. Hek.
The programme was mooted with the idea of planting more than two lakh sapling throughout the country where BSF is deployed.
Speaking to media persons after the programme, BSF Meghalaya Frontier IG, Sudesh Kumar, said that the BSF Meghalaya Frontier alone had planted 12,000 tree saplings in all its BOPs and other places in the State within half an hour on Tuesday.
“This is an attempt by the BSF to create awareness among the people on the need to protect the environment,” the BSF IG said.
Senior BSF officials, wives of senior officers, jawans, nursing staffs of BSF and media persons invited to the programme, participated in the mega plantation drive
