TURA: The Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Dalu Unit, has revealed that the Dalu Government Higher Secondary School has been functioning without a lecturer in the Physics department for nearly a month now.
In a statement issued here recently, the GSU informed that the 10+2 Science Stream was started in the said institution on July 21 this year with a good number of students taking admissions.
However, a lecturer in Physics subject was yet to be appointed till date, the GSU lamented.
“Physics is the most important subject in the course of study and cannot be neglected by any means. The students are worried and puzzled as their courses may not be completed in time. We therefore demand immediate appointment of a lecturer for the said subject,” the Union stated.
The Union also informed that the students had no access to the laboratory room for practical work due to the absence of a Lab Technician.
It demanded that the post of the Lab Technician be filled up at the earliest to enable the students to perform practical work and be well prepared for the exams.
Besides, in view of the majority of students hailing from poor family backgrounds who can ill afford to buy all the books necessary for their course of study, the Union has also requested the concerned authorities to stock up the school’s library with books necessary for various courses.
The Union has submitted details of its demands to the Director, Education and Literacy, Department of Education, a copy of which has also been forwarded to the Chief Minister as well as the Education Minister, among others.
