SHILLONG: The city traffic police on Monday intercepted a vehicle (ML 04 -B- 5422) at Police Bazaar which was being driven by a minor boy in school uniform.
East Khasi Hills SP M Kharkrang informed that the vehicle was released to the parents after payment of a penalty of Rs.1500.
“We would like to appeal to all parents and guardians not to encourage their minor children or wards to drive vehicles as it not only endangers their life but also that of other motorists and pedestrians,” Kharkrang said.
This is not the first time that a school student has been caught driving a vehicle.
In a similar incident on October 8, 2013, a boy in his school uniform was found driving a VIP vehicle (ML 05-F-8888) between Dhanketi and Barik Point, creating havoc.
Later, it was learnt that he was the son of Lambok Mylliem, legislator from Jirang constituency.
