One killed

One person was killed at Umjei in West Khasi Hills, when a Bolero pick-up vehicle collided with a truck on Wednesday morning. The victim, Seila Marwein (50) was one of the six passengers travelling in the pick-up vehicle which was headed to Mairang. The incident occurred at a zigzag road at Umjei. The injured were admitted to Tirot Singh memorial Hospital Mairang where Marwein succumbed to his injuries. (Report by our correspondent)

NGT ban violation

On August 19 at around 5 am, while on vehicle checking duty at Umtyra NH-44 (EJH), Police detected one dumper truck (ML-11-0340) driven by one Synna Sympli transporting coal in violation of NGT order. Police arrested the driver.

Arrest

On August19, Police arrested one Chaming Sangma, a muster roll staff of Forest Department in connection with a theft case under Mendipathar police station.

Theft cases

On the night of August 18, unknown miscreants stole tobacco items valued around Rs. 53,000 from the shop of one Gajendra Singh at Bara Bazar.

One woman Joplin Sympli lodged a complaint at Khliehriat police station that on August 8, her employee one Sabuyh stole Rs. 60,000 from her house at Byndihati village (EJH).

Threat letter

Praveen Bakshi, DC, West Garo Hills lodged a complaint at Tura PS that Superintendent of Tura Civil Hospital submitted a complaint that a threatening letter was found from the Complaint Box of Tura Civil Hospital (WGH) on August 13.

Tree felling

A woman identified as Lona Syntem lodged a complaint at Jowai police station that on August 11 and 12, four persons, Mirson Sympli, Riyus Sutnga, Loin Sutnga and Das Shylla trespassed into her forest land at Namdon-B (WJH), cut down some trees and threatened her and her husband with dire consequences.

Cash recovered

With reference to the incident of snatching of purse from H.S. Saina at Police Bazar, Police arrested one Banlumlang Warjri @ Lung and recovered cash Rs. 22,000 from his possession.

PDS diversion

Agnes Kharshiing, President, CSWO(A) lodged a complaint at Pynursla PS that on July 20, 2012, one Lokin Sohkhlet of Pynter village siphoned off many bags of rice under PDS.
