Four extortionists nabbed in Williamnagar

SHILLONG: Police have arrested four members of a newly formed organisation in Garo Hills for extorting money from shopkeepers.

Police said that on August 22 around 10.30 am, four persons – Jundibirt C. Marak (17), Saljagring D. Sangma @ Kudo (18), Ajay Rikman N Areng (27) and Salgrak N Marak (24) – were arrested while they were demanding money from shopkeepers at Williamnagar Bazar in East Garo Hills in the name of Federation of Achik Social Welfare Communion (FASWC). Later, Police also arrested the leader of FACSW Jupitar S Sangma @ Kabaru (26).

East Garo Hills SP D. Marak said that the arrested persons were not militants but were extorting to form float their new organization.
