SHILLONG: The North-Eastern Hill University Students’ Union (NEHUSU) has expressed concern over the alleged apathy of the concerned Ministry with regards to the appointment of a full-fledged Vice-Chancellor for the University. The previous VC vacated the office on June 2013 and the post has been left vacant till date, despite repeated requests from the Union to appoint a suitable person to the post.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, vice president of NEHUSU, Shiningstar Kharbihkhiew said that the delay in the appointment of a regular VC has hampered the effective functioning of the University. The Union, while urging the Ministry of HRD to expedite the appointment of a permanent VC, also appealed to the State Government to raise the issue with the Centre.
