SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Government Nursing Service Association (MGNSA) has condemned the proposed move of the State Government to conduct fresh interviews for the 180 vacant posts of non-bonded staff nurses.

“We strongly object the plan to re-advertise the 180 posts since the written test and personal interviews for the same was already held a year ago,” MGNSA general secretary B Thabah said here on Thursday.

In a separate representation submitted to Principal Secretary in charge of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday, Thabah had also questioned the decision of the State Government to constitute an inquiry committee to look into the anomalies in the selection procedure.

“I fail to understand why the Government is keen on constituting the inquiry committee now. We demand that the result of the personal interviews of the 392 non-bonded candidates be declared at the earliest,” MGNSA general secretary said.

It may be mentioned that the personal interview was conducted on August 29 and 30 last year.

The non-bonded GNM nurses also suspected foul play behind the move to re-advertise the various vacant posts.

“We would seek justice from the higher authority if the State Government fails to announce the results within the stipulated time,” the non-bonded GNM nurses said.
