Series of drowning cases

SHILLONG: Several drowning cases were reported in parts of State since Wednesday.

According to police, on August 27, body of Lydia Ryntathiang (55) was recovered from a stream at Sumer (Ri Bhoi). It is suspected that the deceased fell down from a bamboo bridge.

On the same day at around 4 pm, body of one mentally challenged person Simon Shanpru (39) was recovered from Spread Eagle Falls, Shillong. The deceased is suspected to have committed suicide.

Yet again on August 27 at around 3 pm, one Nashima Begum (8) was drowned in the water nearby her house at Sidakandi under Phulbari police station in West Garo Hills.
