Dowry case

A woman identified as Nurzia Begum lodged a complaint at Tura Women police station that six years ago, she was married to one Sofiqul Islam, but her husband mistreated her since their marriage and that at the time of their marriage, her parents gave her Rs. 1 lakh, gold ornaments and other items but her husband has further demanded Rs. 50,000 as dowry and beats her.

Body recovered

On August 28 at around 8.30 pm, the body of Kerry Alen Kharshandi of Dum Dum, Nongthymmai, Shillong was recovered from a ditch near Circuit House, Laban, Shillong.

On August 29, body of Simreng M Sangma (15) of Bandalkona (SWGH) was found lying in a field near the MECOFED at Ampati (SWGH). Sangma is suspected to have died due to drowning. After observing necessary formalities, the cadaver was handed over to his relatives and matter is under enquiry.

NGT ban violation

On August 28 morning, while on vehicle checking duty at Mairang Area (WKH), Police detected one truck (AS-01-DD-0965) driven by Tibarland Lyngkhoi (24) transporting coal in violation of NGT order. The truck has been seized and the driver arrested.

On August 28 at around 5 am, while on vehicle checking duty at Nongstoin Area (WJH), Police detected one dumper truck (AS-01-EC-2095) driven by one Dwanlang Kurbah transporting coal in violation of NGT order. Police arrested the driver and the truck seized.

Theft cases

Nepson Ch Marak lodged a complaint at Tura PS that on August 28, unknown miscreants stole his SBML gun from his residence at Silsekgre (WGH).

On August 27 evening, two persons, Bimal Boro (27) and Md. Harmi Ali (28) were arrested while they were committing theft at M/s Milestone Beverage (P) Ltd., Byrnihat (RB). Police recovered and seized three motors from their possession.

Raju Upadhya lodged a complaint at Khanapara police station that on August 19 at around 12.30 am, masked miscreants (12/16) broke into his house at Them Marwet and looted Rs. 25, 000, Nepali currency Rs. 15,000- and gold ornaments.

ATM fraud

A woman identified as Bhina Newar lodged a complaint at Tura PS that on August 25 at around 10 am, she received a phone call in which the anonymous caller informed her that her ATM Card has been locked and asked for her ATM PIN Number to reactivate the same. Later, she found that an amount of Rs. 48,000 has been withdrawn by the caller.

Assault

Rikepstar Nongkhlaw lodged a complaint at Pynursla PS that on August 29 at around 3 am, one Wanstar Nongsteng broke into his house at Laitkyrhong village (EKH) and looted Rs. 1,600 after assaulting him with an iron rod. Police arrested the accused and recovered the stolen cash and the iron rod from his possession.
