Trainees face harassment in Hyderabad

By Our Reporter

SHILLONG: There are allegations of shabby treatment meted out to youths from the State who had gone to Hyderabad to attend skill development training.

A few parents told reporters that their wards who had gone for training to Hyderabad with an O2 Academy had to face harassment during their return train journey.

While some who did not get berths in trains had to sleep near the toilets, others were left behind as the Academy, which is supposed to provide adequate facilities to the trainees, could not arrange train tickets.

The Academy had signed a memorandum with the State Government for providing skill training in Beauty Salon and Spa. The Academy has an office in Shillong.

It is learnt that earlier three batches had gone for training to Hyderabad and some students wanted to return due to their personal problems.

Recently, a batch of 114 youth was sent to Hyderabad for training and out of the 114 youths, two wanted to come back due to the problems in the onward journey.

The counselor of the Academy, however, said that there are two security personnel for the 114 youth who are travelling to Hyderabad.

She also said that the first priority for the Academy was to ensure that all the youths reach Hyderabad safely.
