‘Missing’ school students found

SHILLONG: Seven teenage pupils of Belmont Secondary School, who went ‘missing’ on Thursday morning were found on Friday. Informing this, Vivek Syiem, SP, City, said that the seven pupils were found at Laitkor.Blaming the school authorities for the incident, Syiem said the pupils had made the first attempt to flee from the school at around 2 am on Thursday but were caught. In the second attempt at around 4am they managed to flee. ) He said that the school authorities should have taken some precautions.

It is learnt that the boys first went to Seventh Mile and from there they hired a taxi for Mawphlang and spent the night on the verandah of a school there.

They had around Rs 1000 with them and they even bought some utensils and cooked food there.

On Friday morning, they were found in Laitkor.

The pupils were later handed over to District Child Protection Unit and from there they have been handed over to their relatives.
