SHILLONG: Even though the two-week time sought by the State Government has expired, the Meghalaya Government Nurses Service Association (MGNSA) has decided to give more time to the Government to address their various grievances.
The Government had, earlier, sought two weeks from the MGNSA to address their grievances which ended on September 5.
In a statement issued here on Friday, MGNSA general secretary B. Thabah informed that they had taken this decision to give more time to the State Government following their meeting with the Principal Secretary in charge Health and Family Welfare earlier in the day.
“We were informed during the meeting that the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) will meet on Friday,” Thabah said. She said that they would be closely following the steps taken by the Government to address their various grievances.
Earlier, the MGNSA had expressed strong reservation over the inactive attitude of the DPC which had not met even once since 2011.
“Many top posts including the post of Assistant Deputy Director are lying vacant due to the inaction of the DPC,” Thabah had said.
The Association had also demanded that the Government should fill up all the 450 plus posts which have been lying vacant for quite some time.
Other demands of the Association include creation of a separate Directorate of Nursing for better administration of nursing activities in the State and formulation of services rules for nurses.
