State shooter wins silver

SHILLONG: Bijoy Datta of Meghalaya has won silver medal in the .177 pistol 10 meter men’s category at the 2nd North East Zone Shooting Championship, hosted by Assam Rifles and Shooting Association, in Guwahati.

Besides Datta, Meghalaya was represented by John Thounaojam also.

While John Thounaojam scored 347 / 400, Bijoy Datta scored 371 / 400. In the event, Assam won gold and bronze went to Mizoram.

With this victory Bijoy Datta becomes eligible to take part in the National event which is scheduled to be held at Delhi from November 14.

Both the players were sponsored by the Shooting Association of Meghalaya.
