3 MLAs meet Piyush Goyal on NGT ban

SHILLONG: Three legislators from Jaintia Hills, Justine Dkhar, Robinus Syngkon, and Stephanson Mukhim met Union Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal in Delhi recently and sought his intervention on the ban on coal mining in Meghalaya.

“We apprised him about the difficulties being faced by the people after the NGT ban on coal mining and he assured his support, ” Justine Dkhar said.

The legislators wanted the Centre to take up the matter with NGT so that the sufferings of the people could be addressed since several lakhs of people were affected by the ban.
