ATM fraud

One Biswajit lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar PS that on September 7 around 8.13 pm, his father received a call from mobile phone claiming to be SBI official and asked the details of his ATM and passbook. The complainant’s father provided all the details of his ATM and that of his son’s too. Later, when his son rushed to the Polo ATM to check the balance, he found that an amount of Rs. 36,000 was withdrawn from his father’s account and Rs. 1,999 was withdrawn from his account.

Sukanata Sharma lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar PS that on September 6, around 8.40 pm he received a call from a mobile phone in which the anonymous caller identified himself as Rohit Kumar Gupta, M.D., State Bank of India, Mumbai, and asked about the details of his ATM card. The complainant in good faith furnished details of his ATM but later he received an SMS that an amount of Rs. 8,000 was debited from his account.

NGT ban violation

On September 6 around 3 pm, Police detected one truck (AS-19C-5207) driven by Donbiroy Sangma transporting coal in violation of NGT order at Wageasi (EGH).

Assault

On September 6 around 7 pm, one Walsim D Shira assaulted Titus Ch Momin at Tambo Gittim, Williamnagar (EGH) causing injuries to him.

Cyber crime

One woman lodged a complaint at Mawlai PS that one unknown person opened a Facebook account in her name. The said accused also opened an account with his phone number and photograph. On September 4, he posted obscene picture with the complainants face on the Facebook account.

Theft cases

Police arrested four persons Raja Deb (24), Tofic Ali (19), Raju Das (29) and Titu Roy (42), in connection with a theft case under Laitumkhrah PS.

On Sept 9, Police arrested Dipankar Hajong (21) and two minors in connection with theft case under Tura PS.

Complaint

Alexius Kurbah, Sirdar of Marbisu Sirdarship and others lodged a complaint at Laban PS that Vincent Sun, ex-Headman of Pdengshnong, Marbisu was still using the headman’s seal and issuing certificates even though Patrick Lyngdoh was officially elected as the new headman of the said village since July 30, 1997.

Ningombon Khogendra Meitei lodged a complaint at Laitumkhrah PS that on September 6, he received SMS alerts of debits from his Canara Bank savings account. The complainant called the Branch Manager to block his (complainant) account but the Manager refused to help him in the matter.

Threat

Kebina Nongtdu lodged a complaint at Khliehriat PS that her husband Akbar Ali has been threatening her with dire consequences from time to time.

Accident case

On September 8 around 8.30 am, an accident took place between one night super bus (AS-24C-2787) and a truck (ML-04B-1195) driven by Romeo Papiya at 18th Mile, Byrnihat (RB). As a result, four passengers including one minor boy sustained injuries and were removed to hospital for treatment. Driver of the night super fled away after the incident.
