Data Based system delaying salaries of IV Grade employees

TURA: The All Meghalaya Government Grade IV Employees’ Association, Williamnagar Unit, has revealed that their salaries have been delayed ever since the e- Payroll (Data Based) system was adopted.

The employees stated that one of the reasons for the delay is that the Data Based Staff of Williamnagar has been functioning from Tura making it impossible for the employees to keep in close contact to make necessary corrections whenever they are required.

“It takes time to finish the official works including corrections, changes and modifications which needs consultations in person. It has resulted in delay in the receipt of salaries on many occasions,” the employees complained, adding that the delay was adversely affecting their financial needs with regard to children’s education, loan recoveries, keeping in view that banks impose extra charge as penal interest on a loan for late payment including the payment of MeECL and BSNL bills.

Further, it said that the employees were facing various problems when there was a need to approach the Data Based Staff since they were functioning at Tura.

“The office function was at Williamnagar when the Data Base was initially started. We do not know why and since when they have shifted the office to Tura,” the employees said.

Meanwhile, the Association has written to the Director of Accounts & Treasuries, Shillong, urging him to look into the matter so as to ensure that there are no further problems in the future.
