JOWAI: The Dorbar Shnong of Wapungskur village in East Jaintia Hills District has decided to ostracise one Benison Lapasam – a resident of the village – for his alleged involvement in a murder case.

According to the Rangbah Shnong, Satly Ryngkhlem, the decision to ostracise the accused was taken at a general meeting held recently.

It may be mentioned that West Jaintia Hills Police had arrested Benison Lapasam along with his accomplices for allegedly murdering Syrpailut Khonglam, branch manager of Meghalaya Rural Bank at Iooksi village, on August 30.

Besides Benison, Police had also arrested Teishwamiki Shylla, Riki Rabon, Sing Rabon and Willson Massar, and based on leads provided by them, Police later nabbed Sakhiat Ymbon, believed to be the mastermind of the crime.
