SHILLONG: The Fact Finding Team (FTT) constituted by the Opposition parties in the State to study the power scenario in the State will be visiting the Umiam Hydroelectric Project on Tuesday.

This was informed by FTT chairman Jemino Mawthoh here on Friday.

He said that this would be the last project the team is visiting.

Mawthoh informed that after this visit the members of committee will hold another sitting with the officials of the various units of the MeECL before proceeding ahead with the compilation of the report.

“All the members are really happy with the way the whole exercise has been carried out. We hope to be able to come up with some innovative suggestions which can help to improve the power scenario in the State,” the FTT chairman said.

Mawthoh also expressed satisfaction over the implementation of the New Umtrew Hydro Electricity Project (NUHEP), Ri-bhoi district.

“We are impressed with the way the project is being implemented. We could see the efforts of the MeECL engineers to complete the project at the earliest,” Mawthoh said.

The FTT had visited Myntdu-Leshka Hydro Electric Project (MLHEP).

While commenting on the MLHEP, the FTT chairman had said it was too early to make any comments or reach a conclusion on the functioning of the project.
