SHILLONG: The education Department official Lufter Rahman, who was arrested by CID after being caught red-handed while accepting bribe, has been remanded to a four-day judicial custody.
Sources from the State CID said that the arrested person was produced in the court on Friday and the court forwarded him to a four-day judicial custody. Rahman was arrested by the special CID team of the police from his office at Mairang in West Khasi Hills for accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from an assistant teacher DMI Mawnai for issuing his transfer order from Nongthymmai Government LP School to Nongbah Bynther Government LP School.
Preliminary inquiry indicated that the accused officer was a repeated offender who demanded money for issuing administrative orders for the teachers.
