SHILLONG: A monolith erected in memory of the visit of Pope John Paul-II at Golf Links, here was vandalized by miscreants on Friday night.

It is yet to be known whether the dismantling of the monolith has anything to do with satan-worship as investigation is on ascertain the motive. During his three-hour visit to Shillong as part of India tour, the Pope had on February 4, 1986 presided over the Eucharistic celebration at Golf Course attended by nearly 2 lakh people from all over the Northeast. It was on April 27 this year that Pope John Paul-II was declared as a saint by Pope Francis.
