Kohima: Apex body of Lotha Nagas along the Disputed Area Belt (DAB) in Wokha district of Nagaland, has called upon Assam Government to “respect all the border related agreements and withdraw all the recently established Assam Armed Police (AAP) camps established in the DAB area.”
The Assam state government “had already established 11 Assam Armed Police camps after the recent incidents between Lotha Naga land owners and ‘disloyal tenants’ (Adivasis) in B and C sector in Ralan Area, stated a press release issued by Ralan Area Lotha Hoho (RALH) here today.
The RALH therefore demanded “withdrawal” of Assam police camps in the DAB in Ralan area.
“The presence of above 1000 AAP personnels in Ralan Area is preventing six Lotha Naga displaced villagers to return home till date,” the RALH said.
Maintaining that, not even a single Nagaland Armed Police camp had been established in the so called DAB, the RALH said “confirmation may be sought from the SSB presently stationed in the area.”
The RALH called upon the Assam Chief Minister to “respect all the border related agreements and withdraw all the recently established or all the AAP camps established in the entire DAB area.”
In case the Assam Government fails to withdraw the same, the RALH urged the Nagaland state government to “establish as many NAP camps as AAP, after which only the meaning of DAB would truly be established.”
The RALH asserted that all North East states “should join hand to flush out or to stop the dangerous activities/influence of the Maoist operating in the interstate border areas in the entire North East region.” (PTI)
