Spurt in theft cases in State

SHILLONG: There is no reduction in theft cases in parts of the State which exposes lacunae on the part of the police to arrest the trend.

Besides taking away cash, the thieves continue to steal costly items from houses and shops.

Crime update of the police shows that on September 26 night, unknown miscreants broke into the house of one Shekhar Nag at Rilbong, Shillong, and stole cash Rs.8,000.

On September 25 night, unknown miscreants broke into the shop of Kamal Kumar Sharma at Wahthapbru, Shillong, and stole cash Rs.99,454 and hardware items valued around Rs.7 lakh.

On September 25 night, unknown miscreants broke into the office room of Tura Town High School, Tura and stole cash Rs. 33,515, one pen drive, brass vase, and others from the Headmistress’ office.

On September 28 night, unknown miscreants broke into the premises of MTC office at Tura (WGH) and stole one locker containing Rs. 69,405.

A woman, Diamond Nonglait, lodged a complaint at Lumdiengjri police station that on September 24 morning, unknown miscreants entered her residence at Wahingdoh Block I, Shillong and vandalized two bed rooms and stole an airbag containing cash, coins, digital camera, and others valued around Rs. 50,000.
