DACA brings laurels to Garo Hills

TURA: The Dookaku Art and Cultural Association (DACA) has brought laurels to Garo Hills and its people by bagging several prizes in different categories at the ’22nd India Theatre Olympiad, 2014′ and ‘International Theatre Festival’ organized recently at Cuttack in Orissa.

The nearly week-long festival saw various tribes and communities of the Country showcasing their talents in dance forms, songs and plays. The DACA was able to bag first prizes in Group Folk Dance, Group Folk Song and Group Folk Music categories.

The DACA contingent comprising of altogether 24 members was led by its President, Bikromjit A Sangma who was also conferred with a National award, ‘National Kala Bhusan’ for his dedication in the fields of Art, Literature and Craftsmanship.

“We will be participating in many such National and international events in the future. At the moment we are also thinking of trying out for the next season of reality TV show, ‘India’s Got Talent’,” Sangma said on his return to Tura.
