SHILLONG: The newly-elected KHADC CEM Adelbert Nongrum is likely to forward the list of the new Executive Members to Governor KK Paul on Friday.

Sources on informed that Nongrum has decided to retain the same team of EMs, which was led Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit.

According to sources, the HSPDP had wanted one more post of EM in the new EC as a replacement for Basaiawmoit.

Sources further informed that the HSPDP wanted Nongrum to accommodate Mawshynrut MDC Morningstar Mawsor as the EM in the new EC.

HSPDP and UDP should get the equal representation in the EC since both the parties have six MDCs in the Council, a HSPDP leader said.

While the UDP will have four MDCs as EMs in the new EC, sources revealed that the HSPDP will have only two MDCs as EMs following the exit of Basaiawmoit and resignation of Nongshken MDC Grace Mary Kharpuri from the party.

Sources, however, feel that the HSPDP should not be too unhappy since the posts of the chairperson and deputy chairman are being occupied by the party MDCs in the form of Teilinia Thangkhiew and Pyniaid Sing Syiem.

Earlier, there were reports that Kharpuri who has offered an unconditional support to ARPA following her resignation from the HSPDP is likely to lose the berth of the EM this time around.

Despite this speculation, sources revealed that Kharpuri has managed to retain her place in the new EC.

Interestingly, besides Nongrum who is the CEM, all the three KHNAM MDCs — James Ban Basaiawmoit, PT Sawkmie and Latiplang Kharkongor – will find a place in the new EC.

The remaining MDCs who are list of EMs to be forwarded to the Governor are LG Nongsiej and KP Pangngiang (both HSPDP), Donkupar Sumer, Rona Khymdeit, Teinwell Dkhar and Hadrian Lyngdoh (all from UDP).
