Shillong ready to host third edition of intl tourism mart from Oct 13-15

SHILLONG: The 3rd International Tourism Mart – 2014, organised by the Union Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the State Tourism Department, will be held in Shillong from October 13-16.

The Tourism Mart will be attended by officials from the Union Ministry of Tourism and representatives from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim and West Bengal, besides Meghalaya.

51 international tour operators, 13 foreign media inclusive of travel writers will be part of the Mart.

The Tourism Mart is intended to promote and market the unique tourism products of the North East Region including West Bengal.

The programme will commence on October 13 with a performance by Shillong Chamber Choir at the NEHU Convocation Hall.

The Tourism Mart will be inaugurated on October 14 at the State Convention Centre, followed by an inauguration of the exhibition stalls of participating states. The respective states will make a presentation on the same day to the International tour operators attending the programme.

The Union Ministry of Tourism will host a cultural extravaganza of all participating states on the same day at the NEHU Convocation Hall.

A meeting on October 15 will enable the local tour operators to interact and market their packages to the international and domestic buyers. The Mart will conclude with a Familiarization Tour to various parts of the Meghalaya.
