SHILLONG: The HSPDP Central Executive Committee (CEC) has decided to endorse the decision of the Parliamentary Party to demand the induction of one more Executive Member (EM) in the new Executive Committee (EC) led by KHADC Chief Executive Member Adelbert Nongrum.

“We have decided to stick with our demand of inducting one more EM from the party as we feel that the HSPDP has the least number of representatives in the EC as compared to the other allies in ARPA,” HSPDP youth wing president Nolipstar Lyngdoh told newsmen after a party meeting here on Tuesday.

Pointing out that the HSPDP has only two members in the new EC, Lyngdoh said that both UDP and KHNAM have four representatives each.

He also informed that the meeting also discussed the letter of Nongshken MDC Grace Mary Kharpuri in which she expressed her willingness to return back to the party.

“We have decided that if she wants to re-join the party then she has to do it from the primary unit level. But in order to rejoin the party she (Kharpuri) will have to wait for another two to three years,” Lyngdoh said.

However, Kharpuri denied having sent any letter to the party bosses.

“I only sent a letter to HSPDP supremo Hoping Stone Lyngdoh expressing my inability to reconsider my resignation. I have taken the decision to resign from the party after consulting my supporters in the constituency,” she said.

Meanwhile, Sohryngkham MDC Pyniaid Sing Syiem said he will not reconsider his resignation from the post of Deputy Chairman. “My decision is final,” he said on Tuesday.

My intention is being misinterpreted: Paul

UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh on Tuesday claimed that his intention to greet new KHADC CEM Adelbert Nongrum was being misinterpreted.

Lyngdoh claimed that as a senior member of the UDP, he had gone to congratulate the new CEM.

“I don’t consider myself as an outsider,” Lyngdoh said, while reacting on the issue.

In a word of advice to Sohryngkham MDC Pyniaid Sing Syiem (HSPDP), who quit as KHADC deputy Chairman on Monday, Lyngdoh said that it was necessary for an individual to achieve a certain level of maturity.

“If Modi can invite Nawaz Sharif then what is the harm if I had gone to meet the new CEM who represents an area under my own constituency,” the UDP working president said.
