ST scribe inducted into PCI panel

Shillong: C.K. Nayak, Special Correspondent of The Shillong Times, was on Tuesday inducted as one of the 28 members of the reconstituted Press Council of India’s 12th term by the Union Government.

Headed by Justice Markandey Katju, retired Supreme Court Judge, the new council has six editors, seven working journalists (other than editors), six owners of newspapers and one from PTI news agency. It has three nominees from the Lok Sabha including former Union Civil Aviation Minister Rajiv Pratap Ruddy and two members from the Upper House. One nominee each has been taken from the UGC, Bar Council of India and Sahitya Academy.
