SHILLONG: Rajya Sabha MP from State, Wansuk Syiem forwarded a memorandum on Instrument of Accession and Annexed Agreement of August 17, 1948 to the Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee, Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC & ST) recently.

The memorandum was submitted to Syiem here by Co-Chairman, Meghalaya State Planning Board, John Kharshiing. After threadbare discussions, the MP agreed to take up the matter with the Parliamentary Standing Committee, Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC & ST), of which she is a member.

Syiem forwarded a letter Faggan Singh Kulaste, MP and Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee, Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC & ST), on October 17 enclosing the memorandum of the Federation of Khasi States addressed to Union Minister Rajnath Singh, including directives and letters from the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the BJP Policy for Meghalaya which states that all treaties and agreements entered into between the 25 Hima Khasi States and the Government of India will be respected and implemented.
