SHILLONG: The upcoming KHADC session, scheduled to start from October 28, is likely to be a stormy one with the Congress-led Opposition alliance (KHUDA-II) planning put the ruling coalition -ARPA-on the mat on several issues.

The KHUDA-II is likely to move a motion seeking a clarification from the CEM Adelbert Nongrum over the visit of the MDCs to Sabuda under Raid Nongtung.

Indicating this here on Wednesday, Mawhati independent MDC James Sylliang said that the EC has been silent on this.

Former CEM Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit had led a delegation of the MDCs from both ruling and Opposition to Sabuda to infuse a sense of security among the local villagers residing in various villages on July 29.

“We have not heard anything from the Executive Committee (EC) on the steps taken to ensure the safety and security of the local villagers,” Sylliang said.

He said that it was expected that there would be similar visits by the MDCs to other areas along the Assam border.

“But to our great disappointment it turned out to be a one-time affair,” Sylliang said.

The Opposition will also question the decision of the EC to make seven fresh appointments despite the poor financial position of the Council.

“With the present fund constraints, the decision of the EC to make this fresh appointment is totally unjustified,” he said.
