One held for assaulting on-duty cop

JOWAI: West Jaintia Hills police on Saturday evening arrested one Kumar Sunar of Memory Colony for allegedly assaulting a cop on duty a week ago.

According to Jowai Police, Sunar assaulted one UBC/243 Jame Sangma at Lad-stadium while he was on traffic duty.

Rapist arrested: Meanwhile, EJH Police arrested one Snut Phawa of Jalyiah village for allegedly raping a 27-year-old woman.

According to sources, the woman reported the matter to the dorbar shnong while Phawa found absconding from the village.

According to sources, Phawa has committed the crime a week ago and on Saturday, elders of the village along with the VDP members apprehended Phawa from Sohkymphor area and later handed him over to Ladrymbai Police.
