SHILLONG: A Committee constituted by the High Court of Meghalaya to examine cases of violation of the Meghalaya Building Byelaws, 2011, in under-construction buildings, has listed 12 such buildings and is scheduled to submit photographs of the buildings to the Court.

The Committee in its report mentioned that 12 buildings in Shillong have been found to have been constructed in violation of the permission granted by the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority.

Chairman of the Committee, Sanjay Goyal, said that the Committee will now submit the photographs of the twelve buildings as directed by the Court before the next hearing to be held in November.

Taking cognizance of the report, the High Court’s Division Bench directed MUDA not to issue completion and occupancy certificates to the builders. The High Court has also directed that the violators shall not sell their flats in the twelve buildings to any intended purchaser by concealing the facts that the buildings were constructing in violation of the sanctioned building plan and permission granted by MUDA.
